Alanna & Lou's upstate New York wedding at Handsome Hollow
I still remember the first email I received from Alanna and how she described herself and Lou and what they valued and enjoyed in life and what their vision was for their wedding. I was super intrigued and overly excited, thinking I would be a great fit as their photographer. Then, I kept reading and found out the wedding was happening in the Catskill Mountains of upstate NY at a newer venue (Handsome Hollow) that seemed really special. What a perfect combo, I thought. Inspiring people in a great location. After chatting together and making it official, time passed, excitement built and their weekend approached. I could tell after hanging out at the Rehearsal dinner and meeting everyone, the actual wedding was going to be great.I quickly found out almost everyone was from the midwest, which helped the weekend have that at home feel, even though it was technically a destination wedding.
Its an amazing thing when a couple finds a photographer from the midwest and wants to bring said photographer out to another part of the country and put them up in an amazing AirBnB spot and invites them into their family for the weekend. Yes, there are really tough parts of being a wedding photographer, but everything I just mentioned is why the job can be so rad. The people involved. The love. The moments and emotion. The places are icing on the cake. Congrats Alanna & Lou. I am so very grateful you found me and liked my work enough to put your trust in and have me out to celebrate with you guys. I'll never forget it!
So much thanks to my friend Josiah, for traveling with and helping me photograph this wedding. A few images in this post are his.
