BWCA Wilderness Trip

At the end of August, I had the privilege of joining a handful of friends on a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. My previous time up was over 9 years ago, so I felt a bit out of place. But, it was nice to kick off the rust and get back into the swing of canoeing, portaging, setting up camp and surviving out in the wilderness. This trip was odd in that the fishing was so good I didn't do much else. I had plans to do a lot of drawing, reading a favorite book on a newly purchased hammock, and just relaxing around a fire with friends. A couple highlights from this trip were a friend, up for the first time, catching a fish of a lifetime and paddling through an area burned down from a previous fire. Freshly off reading through the Hobbit with my kids and all I could think of was the desolation of Smaug. Here are a bunch of photographs from our trip...some on film, some with an iPhone. Our entrance point was #37, Kiwishiwi Lake.
