Erica gushed about my photography from the very first email I received and every email along the way. This sorta thing does crazy good things in a creatives heart. Honestly, I usually don't get THAT much appreciation and when it does come, its life giving. Her and Eric have been some of the best people to work alongside and I'm so excited for their wedding next year. We had a fun time on this session checking out one of their favorite spots in NE Minneapolis (612 Brew) and exploring a couple great locations near our home in South Minneapolis. I really love the last set of photos after the sun had set. I used to never want to shoot after the sun went down, but lately I've been really loving the colors and mood during that window before all goes black.

Tara LaTour Fashion Show / L'atelier Couture Bridal Boutique / Minneapolis, MN
Recently, I had a great opportunity to photograph a local bridal fashion show for Rivets and Roses (a local wedding photography studio I work for). About a month before the show I met with Tara and listened to her explain the vision behind this collection of dresses and what she desired for photography coverage of the event. Its always a great meeting when certain words or phrases are used in relation to photography…
"behind the scenes"
"real"
"document"
"whatever you want"
"I trust you"
…and when there's a good fit and everyones on board, collaborating can be one of the most rewarding experiences out there. There were SO many people involved with this event. I've included a list of vendors at the end of this blog post and I encourage you to check everyone out. Well, here are some of the moments I saw. If you didn't go, you missed out on a great show! Thanks for the support everyone. Livin the dream.
Now that you've seen the photos, check out this amazing film made by my good friend Chris Martin of Sky Focus Films. And tons of others made this event so special...

Brent + Lauren's Wedding / Stout's Island Lodge / Birchwood, WI
When Lauren contacted me, she mentioned her wedding was taking place on an island in Northern Wisconsin, in the city of Birchwood. I replied, as giddy as can be "oh, you mean the Bluegill capital of the world?" For those that don't know, a Bluegill is a fish and I love fishing. The excited inner child in me came out as a flood of memories resurfaced…fishing the creeks near my grandma's house in Rice Lake, spending summer afternoons at our family cabin, so appropriately named "the shack", located only a few miles from Birchwood. We explored the woods and got into all kinds of trouble. These memories and this place never leave you and I was reminded once again at how much I miss it and need to let my own kids experience life apart from a big city. Shortly after Lauren mentioning the location and after I calmed back down...we had another conversation about why she chose this location and what type of wedding and photography she desired. As excited as I was about the potential of photographing a wedding on an island, in the woods, I was more excited about what I heard her say about photography. Simply put, she wanted someone who would be a guest and take photos of the event as it happened. And here is what happened on this "Island of Happy Days"...
And then it was still. A beautiful calm. I sat and waited for the ferry to pick me up and bring me back to my car, while the day and all its emotion and energy was left ringing in my head. Exhale. What an amazing job.
