The McLaurin's / A Minneapolis Winter family session

This was the third session I've had with the McLaurin family. This blows me away for many reasons. I'm overwhelmingly grateful I've been given the privilege of documenting them over and over and over again. Watching their family grow and change has been pretty amazing. My own kids are similar in age, so its been a blast to observe similarities and all out differences. I love how Dean and Sarah just roll with whatever happens and seem to laugh at it all.

Its support like this that makes my heart beat harder in my chest. I never expect clients to continue booking sessions with me because there are SO MANY amazing photographers locally. I think its good to invite different creatives into our lives and let them express what they see. But, I'm obviously extremely thrilled if given another opportunity to create and document the same family. I think the photos get more personal and real because guards drop and my presence becomes part of the norm.

Lets start something together. Invite me into your home this Winter and lets see what happens. I'm willing to bet your family and home has a lot more to offer than you think. Let's create something together you will have the rest of your life. It's really simple.

Ameet / Minneapolis album portrait

I met up with Ameet near St. Anthony Main and we walked around while chatting about his upcoming album, how he ended up in Minneapolis and other random topics that tend to come up when chatting for the first time. After taking a handful of photos, we grabbed a bite to eat and called it a night. Portrait sessions are interesting. I want to really get to know someone, but its also so much about the photos. I'm always after whats real, but its hard to break through the barrier we all put up at times. I think Ameet did a great job of trusting and letting his guard down. I'd love to set up more individual portrait sessions this Winter. Homes and other indoor spaces are SO GREAT to utilize during this time. If you need some updated headshots (did I just say that?) or have a project in mind, contact me. Maybe you simply want to help me create and put yourself in front of a camera. Lets do it! Thanks for following along everyone!

Nass Family / A South Minneapolis Winter family session

I've said this many times, but spending time doing photography in a client's home is one of my favorite experiences. Every space has its own unique light and so much of whats in the space infuses the photographs with substance. True environmental portraiture, allowing the surroundings to help tell a story alongside the people, just feels right to me.

I'm so thankful the Nass family waited until Winter to have me over. Diedra and Jameson are two of the best people on the planet. Diedra helped us deliver our youngest and Jameson helps lead worship at our church. They are helping foster an adorable little girl and love her like one of their own. Upon arrival, I was offered coffee via Chemex, folks. For real.

Sessions like this remind me of how amazing it is to be living and working as a professional photographer. I don't deserve to have this job. Its definitely full of excitement, pressure, trials, big time highs and crushing lows...BUT, God's kindness is made fresh to me every minute I'm holding a camera. Real people are excited to work with me. That's something I have a hard time believing some days. But, its true and its all grace. Thanks for noticing and keeping me on your list, everyone. I COULD NOT do this without your support. My gratitude is overflowing. THANK YOU.
