Chuck + Jessica live in Philadelphia and I didn't have too much convincing to do to get them excited about me coming out for an engagement session. I contacted one of my favorite photographers (Michael Ash) who lives out there, about some locations near their home. My only regret from the trip was not taking him up on the offer to head out to the burbs and hang for a bit. What was I thinking? The trip was simply too fast. But, I did have a great Sunday morning with Chuck and Jess and after spending a few hours with them, chatting about the city, driving around and taking some photos, I knew I would be excited for the wedding back in Minneapolis. I learned a small lesson day of the wedding, however. Never post something on Facebook about being sick, when the bride may see it. The moment I showed up, Jessica gave me that look and asked…"So, how are you doing?" when I know she really wanted to ask..."you gonna make it today?" I felt horrible. I should never be a source of stress for a bride on her wedding day. Thankfully, every hour that passed that day I felt better and better. It truly was a great day that went so well. I have been blown away by how amazing my couples have been this year and the only explanation is I am really connecting with the right people. Every photographer is different and I think its really crucial to find clients who really connect with you and your work. Its vital for building trust and excitement. I am so thankful for the privilege of using photography to help document some pretty amazing people and such unique events. Couldn't ask for a better job.

Devin + Melissa's Wedding / Temple Israel / McNamara Alumni Center
There's always something that sticks with you after returning home from a wedding. I will always remember the many times Melissa asked…"when do I get to see Devin?" And always with a beaming smile. Hearing her say this gave me that funny feeling in my stomach as I remembered what my heart felt on my own wedding day and how I longed to just see my bride. I'm so thankful for the first meeting I had with Devin and Melissa on our back patio and remember them both agreeing they really wanted a photographer who would document their wedding day and nothing more. Well, here is what I saw and how it felt. Thanks again for everyones support over the last few years. I am so appreciative and blown away. I love this job.
Josiah
Josiah was visiting Minneapolis briefly while his parents sold their old home. On the last day of his trip we decided to go adventuring. The only time that really worked was sunrise. I picked him up at 5:30 a.m. and we found a great spot to walk around and talk photography and life. This was a sweet time for me. Josiah is in High School and is getting very passionate about photography. I remember being his age and taking my first HS film photography class. For me, the itch to become more serious with photography didn't start until I was older. Much older. But, Josiah on the other hand, has dove in head first. I'm really excited to see where this all goes for him. Its funny when you cross paths with people you know will quickly become amazing at what they do. You can view some of Josiah's work here. Here's some of what I saw and the portraits I made with Josiah. All images were captured on film and specifics are listed at the end of this post. Thanks for the support everyone! If you'd like to book an adventure portrait session with me please contact me and lets set up a time and place. Its simple. We walk around, chat and hang out, maybe grab coffee…and make some great portraits together.
